This winter we visited the gorgeous Sugar Beach resort in preparation for a story I wrote about St. Lucia for Virginia Living magazine. The owner put a jaw-dropping $100 million into renovating what was formerly known as Jalousie Plantation.
It wasn’t until I saw the incredible piece of property that I could understand how you could invest so much into a resort that was already known as one of the best in the world. Sugar Beach sits between the two, UNESCO World-Heritage-Site Piton mountains in St. Lucia, running from the beautiful white-sand beach up into mountainous terrain overlooking the beach. It’s unbelievable. Here’s the scenic shuttle ride we took daily from our villa in the mountain down to the beach.
